Torah Cafe: Conflicts Between Ethics and Halakha: A Case Study
Tuesday, October 24, 2017 • 4 Cheshvan 5778
7:30 PM - 8:45 PM27 Lloyd Street"What do we do when our ethical sense comes into conflict with what halakha requires? Is it possible to reconcile the two or must one give way for the other? In our time together we will explore this question through the lens of the institution of slavery. Through a close examination of how the tradition wrestled with the ethical implications of slavery we will discover insights and tools for how we can approach this topic in our own religious lives." We are very excited that Rav Greenberg will be our standing YCT scholar for the monthly sessions here forward. Rav Greenberg is a celebrated adult educator.
